All dates and time are shown based on JST (Japan Standard Time).

5.Screening Criteria

Successful applicants will be determined based on the following criteria.

(1) First Screening: Application Documents and English Proficiency
Applicants will be screened based on the score received from their application documents and English proficiency. The number of successful applicants of the First Screening will be about twice as many as the enrollment capacity.

(2) Second Screening: Interview (only for successful applicants of the First Screening)

Successful applicants of the Second Screening will be evaluated comprehensively based on the score received from their application documents, English proficiency, and interview. For more details, please refer to “3. Admission Policy”.

 Evaluation Standards Point Allocation Screening Criteria
First Screening Document Screening 130pt Evaluated based on submitted documents.
(Business experience, motivation and problem awareness, etc.)
English Proficiency 20pt Evaluated based on submitted TOEIC, TOEFL or IELTS (Academic) scores.
*Scores of TOEIC-IP as well as TOEFL ITP will not be accepted.

Second Screening
Interview 50pt An individual interview will be conducted in English to evaluate basic academic ability, experience, motivation, communication skills, future vision, etc.

Note 1
The official score either of TOEIC, TOEFL or IELTS (Academic) taken within the past 2 years (no earlier than October 2016) must be delivered to the University of Tsukuba DIRECTLY from the testing institution no later than Saturday, September 29, 2018.
Any delay in the delivery of the official score will impede application evaluation and processing.

The University of Tsukuba has no control over mail delivery from the testing institution. Make sure that there is enough time for delivery. For more details about delivery time, please consult the testing institution.
■ Official scores NOT submitted DIRECTLY from the testing institution will not be accepted.

■ Please mare sure you order a paper-based score, electrical score will not be accepted.

Note 2
Applicants who haven’t taken an English proficiency test and wish to take it, please schedule to take the test by the end of July 2018 and make sure to order the official score report be delivered to the University of Tsukuba DIRECTRLY from the testing institution no later than Saturday, September 29, 2018.

Note 3
Official score of any English proficiency test other than TOEIC, TOEFL or IELTS (Academic) will not be accepted (e.g. Cambridge English, United Nations English Language Proficiency Exam, Eiken etc.).

Note 4
Exceptions are granted to applicants who have graduated with a bachelor’s degree or higher degree from a program (excluding distance education programs) where English is the official medium of instruction by submitting the Certificate of Graduation and Academic Transcript. Official score either of above mentioned English Proficiency Test is not required.
■ Applicants who have graduated with a bachelor’s degree or higher degree from a program (excluding distance education programs) where English is the official medium of instruction but in a country in which all instruction is NOT provided in English as the official language additionally need to submit a document which certifies that the official medium of instruction is English (Medium of Instruction Certificate).
■ Applicants who have graduated with a bachelor’s degree or higher degree from a program (excluding distance education programs) where English is the official medium of instruction but wish to submit their English proficiency score, please submit either of above mentioned English Proficiency Test DIRECTLY from the testing institution no later than Saturday, September 29, 2018.

Note 5
Regardless of the applicants’ professional background, official score either of above mentioned English Proficiency Test is mandatory unless the applicants can meet the criteria for exception. Application from the applicants who do not meet the criteria for exception and do not submit the official score will not be accepted.

Note 6
Applicants who were born and raised in a country in which all instruction is provided in English as the official language and have graduated with a bachelor’s degree or higher degree from a program where English is NOT the official medium of instruction are required to submit the official score either of above mentioned English Proficiency Test.

Note 1
Any individual request about the interview schedule will not be accepted under any circumstances.

Note 2
Regardless of nationality, applicants residing overseas are required to take their interview at the specified time on Saturday, November 10, 2018 and those residing in Japan are required to take their interview at the specified time on Sunday, November 11, 2018.
For Applicants residing overseas who wish take their interview at the Tokyo Campus on Sunday, November 11, 2018, please request it during the Web Entry. In this case, any individual request about interview schedule will also not be accepted.
