Application Procedure { MBA Program in International Business}

1.Number of Students Admitted and Study Period

30 Students, 2 Years

2.Who Should Apply

Those who aim to become a professional manager with a central role at the head office or foreign-
affiliate of an international company, or in trans-regional business projects.

3.Admission Policy

Integrated evaluation will be made based on the reviews of admission documents, applicant's English
ability, and the individual interview. The admission documents include application form, transcripts, personal essays and professional recommendations.
The individual interview will be conducted to understand applicant's career experiences, motivation, analytical and communication skills, and future vision.

4.Qualifications for Admission

  The aim of the MBA-IB program at the University of Tsukuba, Graduate School of Business Sciences is to response to the social need for reeducation and training of working professionals. Qualifications for Admission are as follows.

  Those who are eligible under qualification for admission @ or A and have working experience of
approximately 1 year at the time of enrollment.
   Foreign applicants who are eligible under qualification for admission @ or A may apply for a student visa and need not have employment in Japan.

Qualifications for Admission @ : Applicants who do not require eligibility screening.

  If you have working experience<※> of approximately 1 year at the time of enrollment and your
   qualification meets one of the following (1)-(7), please print out the designated
Application Forms,
  then submit all required materials between January 12, 2010 and February 13, 2010.
(refer to "15. Inquiries and application submission")

(1) Applicants who have graduated or will graduate from universities or colleges appointed by March
     2010 under article 83 of the School Education Law of Japan.
=Applicants who have graduated or will graduate from 4 years university in Japan by March 2010.
(2) Applicants who have received a bachelor’s degree or will recieve by March 2010 under
    Article 104-4 of the School Education Law of Japan.
=Applicants who have received a bachelor’s academic degree by the National Institution for Academic
    Degrees or will receive by March 2010.

(3) Applicants who have completed at least 16 years of education with a university degree overseas
    or will complete by March 2010.
=Applicants who have completed at least 16 years of education with a university degree overseas
    or will complete by March 2010.

(4) Applicants residing in Japan who have completed at least 16 years of education through
    correspondence courses offered by accredited colleges or universities outside Japan
    or will complete by March 2010.
=Applicants who have completed at least 16 years of foriegn online-education in Japan
    or will complete by March 2010.

(5) Applicants who have completed at least 16 years of education at an educational organization
    established under the educational system of an overseas country which is appointed
     by the Japanese Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
    or will complete by March 2010.
=The Temple University, Department of Art, Department of Communication Theater, Department of Liberal
    Art and Department of Tourism Business, Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine,
    Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner Program(Japan).

(6) Applicants who have graduated from specialized training colleges designated by the Japanese
    Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology under the Education Enforcement
     Order(article 155-1-5 of MinisterOrdinance) or will graduate by March 2010.
=Applicants who hold the degree of Koudo-Senmonshi and who have completed the minimum required 4 years
    of study or will graduate by March 2010.

(7) Applicants who are specially designated by the Japanese Minister of Education, Culture, Sports,
     Science andTechnology under the Education Enforcement Order (article 155-1-6 of
    the Minister Ordinance) of having the same academic ability as those who have
    graduated from college/university.
=Applicants who have a specialized or the first teacher’s certificate of elementary school, junior high school,
      senior high school, or kindergarten for physically handicapped or mentally retarded children teacher's
    license, and others.

 ※ Working experience includes both full-time and part-time jobs.However jobs held while enrolled
    as a full-time student do not qualify as working experience. Applicants who have no working
     experience are not eligible to apply.

Qualifications for Admission A : Applicants who must be screened for eligibility.

   If you have working experience<※> of approximately 1 year at the time of enrollment and your
  qualification meets one of the following (1) or (2), your eligibility will be reviewed by the Admissions Committee.
   Please obtain Eligibility Confirmation Document from

   materials between December 8, 2009 and January 8, 2010.

  Note: "Applicants who must be screened for eligibility" means in case of following (1) or (2) your
         qualification are determined equal to academic achievement as certified by a university.
         Your application will be held for further consideration.

   For this reason, please don't pay the application fee until your eligibility has determined.

(1) Applicants who have been designated by article 155-1-7 of the School Education Law of Japan of
     having the academic ability for early admission entrance.
=Applicants who jumped to graduate school without completing undergraduate should submit a certificate of
     graduation from the graduate school.

(2) Applicants whom the Tsukuba MBA-IB Admissions Committee has deemed to have the academic
     competence equivalent to those who have graduated from universities or colleges by individual
    admissions review, and who are over 22 years old or who will become 22 years old before July 31,
    2010.
   (a) Applicants who graduated from upper secondary schools, junior colleges, technical colleges,
       higher vocational schools, schools in the miscellaneous category, or Japan branches/campuses of
      foreign universities, international or other schools and those whom the Tsukuba MBA-IB
      regulations,Admissions Committee has, pursuant to its rules and deemed to have sufficient
      academic competence equivalent to those who have graduated from universities or colleges.
    : Applicants who lack qualifications for admission under @ above and applicants who have completed
         less than 16 years of total school education in overseas will be reviewed as in above criteria(a).

   (b) Applicants who are recognized by the Tsukuba MBA-IB Admissions Committee as holding
      qualifications equivalent or superior to a university graduate.
       Such students are required to complete approximately one year as a research student or research
      fellow in a Japanese or foreign university or at a National Inter-university Research Institute
      in Japan. Additionally, applicants must be 22 years old or older as of July 31, 2010.
    :In addition, applicants who can submit the Certificate of Research Activities should do so.

     ※ Working experience includes both full-time and part-time jobs. However jobs held while
        enrolled as a full-time student do not qualify as working experience.

5.Screening Criteria

*1 The official TOEIC score must be sent directly from the Institute for International Business
      Communication (IIBC), if you will take or have taken the test in Japan. The official TOEFL
      score must be sent to the Admissions Committee directly from Educational Testing Service (ETS).
      Both test must be taken within the past 2 years (no earlier than January 2008) and sent by the
      designated period.

If you wish to take the 152nd TOEIC test, you must submit the following documents by the following dates.
1) A copy of the e-mail from the TOEIC internet services confirming your online application submission for the 152nd TOEIC test must be sent together with other admission application documents by February 13, 2010.
2) A copy of the admission ticket for the 152nd TOEIC test must be sent together with other admission application documents by February 13, 2010.
3) A copy of the online score display for the 152nd TOEIC test must be sent immediately after the result is displayed online and received by the Admission Committee no later than 19:00, February 27, 2010. (Application fee is not refundable.)
Please note that you will not be able to submit 3) above if you do not apply for the test on the TOEIC official website,
and that you must arrange for the official TOEIC score to be sent directly from the the Institute for International Business Communication (IIBC). (For the details of TOEIC Score Direct Reporting Service, please refer to *2.)

*3 Applicants who obtained a bachelor’s degree from a college or university where English is the
      medium of instruction are only required to submit a certificate of graduation and transcript instead

8. Special Measures

 Applicants who have special accessibility needs due to a disability should contact the Academic Service Office by January 8, 2010.
After having carefully studied the proposal, special measures may be offered.

9. Application Fee

    30,000 (JPY)
 Payment must be maid before applying. However if you apply as qualification A-(1) or
(2), application fee must be paied after passing the admission committee's final review.
@How to Pay
            In the case of financial institution, please pay the application fee at the counter of a post office
            or bank using the designated slip.
            In the case of convenience store, use a PC or mobile to access the designated website
           and obtain registtration number. Then go to a convenience store and use the terminal device
           (vary according to the store) located inside the store and pay at the cash register.
            Note:Charges for above payment must be borne by applicants.

            (If you send the application by postal mail, the application must be delivered by the deadline. )
BPayment Location
            Please pay the application fee at the counter of financial institution or convenience store.
            Note: You cannot pay by ATMs (Automated Teller Machine) nor by Net-Banking.

10. Application Periods and Procedure

 The application materials and other documents must arrive within the following periods.
 In addition, you are strongly encouraged to submit all materials required for the application in one package.
 Please write“MBA-IB Application” in red on the front of the envelope.
 Please refer to the following office hours for submitting in person to the Academic Service Office for Business Sciences.
(Tuesdays to Saturdays, 13:00 -19:00 / Mondays 13:00 to 18:30)

 Qualifications for Admittance @ :Applicants who do not require eligibility screening.
  Period : From (Tue) January 12, 2010 to (Sat) February 13, 2010

 Qualifications for Admittance A : Applicants who must be screened for eligibility.
  Period : From (Tue) December 8, 2009 to (Fri) January 8, 2010

11. Reference Card and Guidance for Applicants

  After the review of submitted application documents, the admission office will send the reference
  card and guide for applicants to all the applicants via postal mail by February 25, 2010.

12.Announcement of Results

March 31, 2010(Wed) 15:00

  The admission Committee will release the reference numbers of successful applicants for
  enrollment in the 2010 school year on the University of Tsukuba, Tokyo Campus website as well as send a letter of acceptance to successful applicants.
   The reference numbers will remain posted for one week.
   Note : Unsuccessful applicants will not be informed.

13.Admission Procedures

(1) Forms necessary for the enrollment process will be sent to all the successful applicants on March 31, 2010(Wed).
(2) Expenses of MBA-IB entry (As of April 2009 *for reference)

※1. If there is any change in the amount of tuition during the school year, the newly adopted amount
    will be applied to your tuition payment.
※2. The entrance fee is non-refundable.
※3. Tuition fee will be paid after enrollment.

14.Others

(1) Applications will not be reviewed until all required materials are received.
(2) Application document may not be changed after submission.
(3) Application documents will not be returned to applicants.
(4) Be sure to bring your reference card to the interview.
(5) The Universuty can not provide any information on accommodations in connection with interviews.
(6) The University will not respond to any inquiries about the admission decision.
(7) Additional details(e.g. interview time and place) will be provided after receipt of completed applications.
